Highland Village

The city of Lewisville sits on the southern edge of gorgeous Lake Lewisville, one of the largest lakes in the North DFW area. Considered part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Lewisville is adjacent to Carrollton, Flower Mound, and The Colony. What sets this city apart are its abundant parks and green spaces while still maintaining close proximity to all the shopping, dining, business, and entertainment centers of the DFW area.

Originally settled in the 1840's as part of Denton County, this community has long been a part of Texas' cultural heritage and original buildings were centered around the railroad (now the Union Pacific). The city was formally incorporated in 1925, but the population really began to boom in the mid-century. By the 1970's, while the rest of the nation was experiencing a housing recession, home builders found the opposite to be true here. This was followed by a crescendo of employment centers that has lasted into the 21st century. Lewisville is now home to about 90,000 people working at thousands of different businesses in the city.

Gorgeous Lewisville Lake is a 29,000-acre reservoir now known as the "Urban Bass Fishing Capital of Texas." Whether it's fishing or swimming, walking or boating, camping or biking, the lake is the place to be all year round. Lewisville Lake Park also hosts the Lake Environmental Learning Area just below the lake dam. Bobcats, white-tailed deer, and a variety of flora and other fauna can be found among the peaceful wilderness this area affords. Canoeing, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and camping can all be enjoyed, as well as a full calendar of weekend activities.

For the savvy shoppers, Lewisville also has Vista Ridge Mall and has more retail space per capita than any nearby city. Historic Western culture and the arts are also thriving, with the fun Western Days Festival in September. The Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater invites visitors to enjoy a Broadway-style musical, concert, or other stage event. Just next to the shops and restaurants of Main Street sits the Greater Lewisville Community Theater, built in 1885. Home to more than 5,000 businesses, this city also hosts over 65,000 full- and part-time jobs. The economy in North Texas is certainly thriving, and Lewisville is no exception.

Whether it's to start a new career or enjoy the outdoors, the city of Lewisville has everything needed in a great home town.
